Winter Is Coming

***  Hey everyone!  ***

The winter is quickly approaching and to me it seems like most people are complaining about that, so I
decided to come up with some good reasons to look forward to the wintertime

1) Along with winter comes tea and coffee! I absolutely love tea & coffee and in the wintertime I need something to keep me warm

If you're not much of a teadrinker* and really need something sweet to go along with your cup of tea then do as I did and make a cute box of Mike and Ike's! This tea is a special black liquorice, which I think is just marvelous!

A cup of coffee can always put a smile on my face! I decided to this  partly because I was bored and also because I thought it would look cute!

2) The winter clothing!

I love my winter clothing, my cozy scarves, my leather gloves and I love all of  my winter boots. I especially missed my Bumper boots.

This picture is taken off the internet, however it's the same kind I own.
3) CANDY!
For some sort of weird reason I feel like it's more alright to eat unhealthy in the wintertime. However, I miss being able to eat donuts in the US.
This is a picture of all the donuts I could choose from, when I had to pick the donut first donut I  had ever tasted! (If anyone cares, I chose the plane glazed one and it's still my favorite)

So these are some of the few reasons that I love the wintertime! Hope it helped you look a little more forward to the cold months.

Love, Benedicte

Crème de la crème

Hey again!
I made this birthday cake, with my American sister for my lovely American grandmother's birthday. It just tasted wonderful and I'm really considering making it again sometime. I can really recommend it for birthdays or any other occasions! So therefore I thought I would give you the recipe! (I took the recipe from a danish webpage, so I just tried to translate it the best that I could, hope it's okay)

Recipe for this Danish Raspberry Layer Cake:

Ingredients for 1 "Danish Layer Cake"

What you're going to need:

Filling:
½ liter of whipping cream
500 g fresh strawberries
250 g marzipan
crushed Macaroons

Cake cream:
2 eggs
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tbsp cornflour
2 ½ cups milk
½ tsp vanilla sugar

Cake "Bases"/"Layers":

100 g soft butter
100 g dark chocolate (20g. To garnish)
250 g of sugar,
2 eggs
2 cups milk

225 g flour
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. cocoa

      How to make ...

The layers:
Butter & sugar mixed together. Add the eggs whipped.
corn flour, chocolate (Choppet into small pieces) cocoa & baking powder mixed together & turned into the egg mixture, stir in the milk little by little. The batter is poured into tin & bake at 200 degrees for approx. 40 minutes. When the "cake" is cold, cut three layers.

Cake cream
Beat eggs, vanilla & sugar together in a saucepan.
whip corn flour & milk, bring the cream to a boil at constant whipping. Creamen flavor to the vanilla.
In order to avoid drawing creamen skins.

Roll the marzipan out so here after can cover 2 pie plates with the rolled marzipan.

Whip the cream to make whipped cream.

Wash strawberries and cut them in half.

Mash slightly less than half of the strawberries in a bowl and toss gently just under half of the whipped cream in.

1) Start by putting one layer on a cake platter.
2) Cake cream
3) Marzipan
4) Cream/strawberry mixture
5) Cake bottom
6) The same procedure as 2-5
7) Macaroons on the last layer.
8) Whipped cream spread out with a spatula on the top and sides
10) Garnish with strawberries.
11) Ready to be served

ENJOY!

Welcome

Hey everyone!

I've never tried to blog before and I honestly have no clue what the heck I decided to do it(??). This blog is probably going to be a bit about everything & nothing! First off I'm going to tell you a little 'bout myself. Well, the title speaks for itself, I'm a confused seventeen year old girl and I live in Denmark(Yup, that's right! Scandinavia - the cold north). I took a year abroad and went to the US and lived in the state Indiana. I got home this summer and started high school(10th grade), which is kinda weird since I was a senior in the US. Anyways, I guess you could say I have a broad personality, since I like so many different things. I love gaming, everything from Mirrors Edge and Assassin's creed to Grand tourismo and Black ops, I play the guitar, I listen to rock music, I love shopping (like most other "normal" girls), I like making food(Which I'm absolutely terrible at and I made it my life goal to learn how to cook, since I like it), my friends & family mean the world to me an I love spending my time with them, I'm an active member of MUN(Modern United Nations), I'm a volunteer for AFS, I love running and yeah... I'm a really busy person. If you ever have any questions for me, feel free to ask. So that was a quick welcome and a little bit about myself, enjoy! ^.^

                                            Much love Benedicte.
